VE Day marked the end of World War Two in Europe. Huge crowds took to the streets on 8 May 1945 to sing, dance and rejoice after nearly six years of war. Now our veteran heroes could finally come home.

NATIONAL CHILDRENS DAY UK

It is also significant as the enduring importance of peace and protection for future generations.

VE Day, marking the end of World War II in Europe on 8 May 1945, was a day of immense relief and celebration across the UK.

It marked the end of years of fear, separation, and hardship for children.

Many had been evacuated, lost family members, or lived through bombings and rationing.
